A Small School with a Big Experience
At Acton Academy Lakewood, our Elementary Studio (ages 6–11) combines structure with freedom—offering a rich, real-world education that helps children grow into curious thinkers, confident leaders, and kind teammates.
Here, learners set their own goals, track their own progress, and build real skills—academic, social, and personal. It’s a tight-knit, mixed-age community where your child will be known, challenged, and supported every step of the way.
What Makes It Different
We’re not trying to do school better—we’re doing something different.
At Acton, your child will:
- Set daily goals and track progress through a personalized badge plan
- Dive into Core Skills (like math and reading) at their own pace using powerful adaptive tools
- Explore big questions in Socratic discussions that build clarity, confidence, and strong communication
- Lead real-world projects we call Quests—like designing a museum, launching a business, or exploring energy and electricity
- Build character by practicing responsibility, reflection, and teamwork in a learner-led studio
- Grow socially in a mixed-age environment where every child learns from and leads others
This is a place where learners stretch themselves—and support one another—every day.
What You’ll Notice as a Parent
You won’t see worksheets, report cards, or rigid schedules. Instead, you’ll see:
- Clear, simple progress reports showing whether your child is on plan, behind, or ahead for their goals
- Public exhibitions of learning every 6 weeks where learners present their work and growth
- A joyful, purposeful daily rhythm—with time for focused work, outdoor play, and meaningful connection
- A close partnership between Guides and families, with regular updates and open communication
There’s no nightly homework, and our screen time is limited to less than 90 minutes per day—used only for personalized learning tools.

Built for Working Families Who Want More
We offer school-day hours from 8:00–3:00, plus an optional After School Playclub until 5:45 p.m., making it easier to manage your family’s schedule without sacrificing the quality of your child’s experience.
We also host family-friendly community events throughout the year—bringing parents into the learning journey and helping families connect in a meaningful way.
